CHRISTMAS CONCERT 2019
Our Christmas concert this year will once again be at St. Aldhelm's Church, Branksome, on Wednesday December 11. As ever there'll be a mix of Christmas music and well-known songs from many genres as well as original compositions by our musical director Sammy Hurden.
The concert starts at 8pm and is part of the Shining Branches Christmas Tree Festival, taking place amid the sparkle of dozens of beautifully lit real trees at the church in St. Aldhelms Road, Branksome, BH13 6BT.
Entry is by donation to the choir's chosen charity, Green Island Holiday Trust, which provides holidays for people with disabilities in Dorset. Refreshments are available.
Everyone is welcome and we look forward to seeing you there for an uplifting evening of music.
Thanks to everyone who came along to our 2017 summer concert at St. James Church in Poole on July 5. We all enjoyed performing there and thanks to you we raised almost £800 to help the work of Bournemouth Samaritans.
Many thanks to everyone who came to our 2016 Christmas concert at St. Aldhelm's. The church was packed and we raised £706 for Water Aid, a charity which saves lives by providing access to clean, safe water.
Luminos raised a total of £760.70 for the MyTIME charity at our summer concert held at Pavilion Dance in Bournemouth. Thanks to everyone who came along - it was a great evening and we were pleased to be able to help another good cause.
Luminos performs regular concerts in a variety of locations. A highlight each year is our Christmas concert at St. Aldhelm’s Church, Branksome, held against the stunning backdrop of hundreds of sparkling lights as part of the church’s Christmas Tree Festival.
We raise money for charities close to members' hearts at both our Christmas and summer concerts. Over the last few years we have raised thousands of pounds for good causes including the Cystic Fibrosis Trust, Naomi House, the Alzheimer's Society's Singing for the Brain groups, the RNLI and Gully's Place at Poole Hospital.
Pictured above is our donation to DebRA, the charity which helps people with the chronic skin condition epidermolysis bullosa, with Sammy Hurden and the choir presenting the cheque to regional fundraising manager Ruth McBain.
Our concert at St Aldhelm's Church in December 2014 raised an amazing £656.42 for War Child, which helps children affected by conflict all around the world. A huge thank-you to our audience who packed the church and donated so generously.
Our 2015 summer concert was held on Thursday July 9 at Pavilion Dance, Bournemouth and raised £665 for the Cherry Tree Nursery charity. Thanks again to everyone who contributed.
After our 2015 Christmas concert we were thrilled to be able to donate £900 to Andy Culliford, a Westbourne firefighter who is battling Motor Neurone Disease.
